Habitat Surveys

Habitat surveys can be utilised for preliminary appraisals of habitats, their evaluation and condition, and form part of planning applications. Baseline surveys can inform impact assessments, biodiversity enhancement and habitat management plans. IMTECO undertake all habitat survey types including:

  • Phase 1
  • UK Habitat classification system (UKhab)
  • National Vegetation Classification (NVC)
  • Ground Water Dependant Terrestrial Ecosystem (GWDTE)

Included are habitat condition assessments for peatland, grasslands, woodland, trees, hedgerows, wetlands and watercourses. Targeted surveys are undertaken for non-native invasive species, bryophyte surveys and protected and rare plants.

Protected Species

IMTECO have a wealth of experience in undertaking surveys for protected species. Our expert team have a wide range of knowledge in the identification for the presence, or absence, of protected species.

Biodiversity Net Gain

IMTECO staff are fully trained in the use of the Statutory Biodiversity Metric and have a thorough understanding of the legislation for BNG in England.

Geographic Information System and Mapping

IMTECO have dedicated staff that undertake onsite data capture and use of GIS, which is the core delivery component for visualising and analysing data for a project.

Environmental Impact Assessment

IMTECO undertake all stages of development projects including screening, design option analysis, scoping and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).

Ecological & Environmental Clerk of Works

Our highly experienced ecological and environmental clerk of works staff will oversee development projects at the pre-construction, construction and decommissioning phases.
